Leroy Jones, Jr. is the creator of Talking Technology with Leroy Jones, Jr., as well as PoliticalJones.com. He is a Political Commentator and Government Affairs Consultant based in Washington, D.C. For over 20 years, Mr. Jones has worked in federal government affairs, including public service as an aide on both sides of Capitol Hill and the Clinton White House.

"Dad, what does UMD stand for?"  Well . . . I am "TechnicalJones" . . . right?  :-)

Definition: UMD stands for Universal Media Disc.  

UMD is an optical disc format developed by Sony for its portable game console, PSP (as in Playstation Portable) that was released in 2004.

UMD discs hold approximately 1.8GB of data and currently are used only for PSP games, applications and movies although Sony has announced plans to open up the format for third party companies as well.

What is a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)?

Definition: A special processor dedicated to calculating the graphics in a game. A GPU allows for better looking console games and takes the load off of the CPU during gameplay. Think of it as a video card in a PC, but for consoles.

Technology has changed how movies are made.


The recent DVD release of the blockbuster movie, "Iron Man", is a classic example of how technology has changed movie making.


By the way, just thought I would let you know. . .  I'm Iron Man!
