These products are some of the most power hunger consumer goods that we use everyday.

Because these products when turned off are only in stand-by mode there energy use meter continues to run.

Remote2_May 2008.jpgCan you believe it!  I never thought I would see this day.

Finally we have solution to all those random remote controls sitting around your house.  It seems that that Sony, who is a main player in electronic consumer industry has cut a deal with the Cable TV Folks to get rid of those dreaded "cable boxes"

Don't you remember how you had to position those cable boxes on top of your 17 or 19-inch TV just so they would not fall off?   Oh . . . those were the days!  :-)

So how do I survive now with one less remote?  I think every man in America will struggle with this loss, and I think EVERY WOMAN will rejoice!!!

On this day, 40 years ago we lost a Dreamer.  Fortunately for all of us his legacy lives on.

A very cool thing happened to me yesterday on Capitol Hill.  I had the pleasure of meeting the Commissioner of the National Football League (NFL), Roger Goodell

As a big NFL fan, I took the opportunity to introduce myself and share a story about my seven year old son's love of the league.   I related to him that my son's favorite television channel is now the NFL Network, not Nickelodeon.  My son actually shed tears at the conclusion of the NFL Pro Bowl, because he realized it was the end of the season.  I told the Commissioner that I got him to cheer up only when I reminded him that the NFL Pre-Draft Combine would be starting in a couple of weeks.

The Commissioner laughed, telling me that he was glad to hear of such enthusiasm.  He was gracious with his time and attention.  I was impressed.  My son was very excited to know that his "Dad" met the Commissioner of the NFL.  He wants me to relay to the Commissioner next time I run into him that one day he dreams of being the Commissioner of the NFL also.  :-)

Mr. Goodell was up on the Hill for a hearing on competition in sports programming.  It looks like things got very interesting and heated.  With infinite upgrading technology and more ways to possibly view NFL games, this is an issue to watch both now and in the future.

In another sign of the times, you will now be able to see full episodes of old TV shows on the Internet.  Old school TV show's such as the A-TeamKojak, and others will now be available online.  For those of you who grew up watching these show's it a good way to go back down memory lane.

These are truly remarkable times.  My Mother, always told me that in this life, "Everything old is new, and what new is already outdated".  I truly understand those words now!  :-)

I still love and have access to my father's 8-Track collection (my personal favorite, "Little Anthony & the Imperials"), but I was the first of my buddies to switch to cassette tape.  And I liked the Beta, but the first video player that I played was VHS.  Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to the HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray DVD battle.  Sony's Blu-Ray has won. This is great for PlayStation 3 owners.  So don't throw out all of your HD-DVDs just yet, they may be worth a few bucks on E-Bay down the road.

Check out some interesting background and stories on this shift to Blu-Ray:
