Someone asked me, "What in the world does 3G mean?
They told me, "You're TechnicalJones, What's the deal?" :-)
Ok, here's the deal! Hope it makes your day! :-)
Definition: 3G refers to the third generation of developments in wireless technology, especially mobile communications.
The third generation, as its name suggests, follows the first generation (1G) and second generation (2G) in wireless communications.
3G includes capabilities and features such as:
1. Enhanced multimedia (voice, data, video, and remote control);
2. Usability on all popular modes (cellular telephone, e-mail, paging, fax, videoconferencing, and Web browsing).
3. Broad bandwidth and high speed (upwards of 2 Mbps).
4. Roaming capability throughout Europe, Japan, and North America.
While 3G is generally considered applicable mainly to mobile wireless, it is also relevant to fixed wireless and portable wireless.
3G offers the potential to keep people connected at all times and in all places.

Smaller . . . smaller . . . smaller!
I guess the next PC that you will purchase may just be smaller and faster than the big bulky one you have at home or at your office right now.
I guess the key to all of this new modern technology is to make it faster and smaller.
Let's hope that they don't forget to make it easier to use also.

The debate over the effectiveness of laptops in school classrooms continues everyday.
In the State of Maine, the realization of such a plan is being put to the test. Presently, the state is providing all middle school students with laptops.
The use of this technology as an educational tool will be a continuing area of interest for all of us.
One thing is for sure, how our kids and how we learn will never be the same.

If you ever wondered how technology is making a impact in every aspect of our lives, there is now written confirmation of how our world is changing.
Recently, Merriam-Webster updated their dictionary to
include new tech words such as webinar, malware, and netroots.
Look forward to seeing these words in my Tech Terms postings in the future.

There seems to be some question about the commitment of the makers of all this technology to help save the environment.
A recently released report by Greenpeace has rated the efforts of these companies.
Green is good, and we can all hope that these numbers spurs those doing well to keep up the good work and those who are not to do better.

There is an increase in the number of data security breaches all across the nation.
Hackers are increasingly targeting not only banks and government agencies, but also schools and health care organizations.
As more of our personal information becomes digitized we will probably continue to see a battle to find ways to protect this important information.

Where's the most tech savvy state?
Looks like the Silicon Valley and California has the name, but not the title.
The power is on the East Coast.
