From time to time I will post a technical word or term that we
frequently hear, but have no real idea of what it means. Oh yes, you
can chuckle about it, but not everybody knows the difference between
gigabytes and Web 2.0. For most folks, as long as it works when you
turn on, it's all good!
The word for right now is: Wireless Fidelity or more commonly
known as WiFi. Go into any coffee house or hip trendy place and you
will see it is available.
Definition of WiFi:
It is a local area network that uses high frequency radio signals to transmit and receive data over distances of a few hundred feet.
WiFi does what?
WiFi technology facilitates connecting you with public wireless high-speed Internet access at speeds much faster than dial-up when you're in a 150-foot range of a growing number of public hot spots - in airports, restaurants, and other places offer high-speed wireless service within their establishment.
What is a WiFi Hot Spot?
Wi-Fi Hot Spot is a business that has installed broadband Internet and equipment for the purposes of allowing public access to wireless high-speed Internet.
Talking Technology will be the place to discover and explore all of the new and exciting developments in our ever changing technological world.
This is going to be fun!
First, on behalf of full disclosure, Talking Technology with Leroy Jones, Jr. is supported by AT&T. However all of the views and opinions expressed on this blog are my own. So if I'm taking a position that happens to be supportive of AT&T, it's because I believe it to be correct.
So, don't trip. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I do expect you to be straight up. If you disagree come correct, but don't ever disrespect. I'm a very open person, and I encourage an open dialogue on the issues that will be presented.
